The BASIS transport application was installed successful but now I’m having problem uploading data into the lock there is an error saying that “Communication error occurred. Reset the device and retry.”

Answer

The error is related to the USB to serial cable and the COM port in the BASIS Transport application.

  1. Open the BASIS Transport Application.
  2. Click on the File menu.
  3. Select “Set COM Port”
  4. See what COM ports are available.
     - If none are listed, reboot the netbook.
     - If only one COM port is listed, click on it to place a check mark on it.
     - If more than one is listed, open the device manager and look under Ports (COM & LPT). Locate the USB to Serial Cable and see what COM port is listed. That is the COM port that should check in the BASIS Transport application under Set Port. 
  5. Once the COM port is selected, try again to program the lock.
