Q: What is the BEST 6K? A: The 6K is a grade 2 medium duty cylindrical knob set that was introduced in 1990. There are no lever options for the 6K. The 6K cylindrical knob set and the 7KC cylindrical lever set share the same latch. |

Q: What materials are used in the manufacturing of the BEST 6K? A: All 6Ks are constructed of steel or brass, which contributes to the overall strength and durability of the lock. They do not contain weaker metals, like zinc or aluminum, commonly found in other cylindrical knob sets. |

Q: What back sets are available for the 6K? A: The 6K can be ordered with a 2 3/8”, 2 ¾”, 3 ¾”, or 5” back set dead locking latch. The standard latch front is 1” in width; however, a 1 1/8” latch front is available to order with the 2 ¾” back set. A drive-in latch is also available on 2 3/8” and 2 ¾” back sets. |

Q: What functions are offered for the 6K? A: The 6K is available in 5 single key functions (i.e., entry, office, storeroom, service station & classroom) and 7 keyless functions (i.e., passage, exit, privacy, hospital privacy, patio, single dummy trim & double dummy trim). |

Q: Who is the 6K customer? A: The 6K is a commonly used lock for non-ADA compliant applications, such as government and military facilities (i.e., barracks doors, base housing, etc.) as well as countries that do not require ADA compliance, such as Latin America. |

Q: What knob styles are offered for the 6K? A: The 6K has 2 knob styles – round & tulip. |

Q: Do you have to specify handing when ordering a 6K lock? A: The 6K has a reversible knob face. Once the core has been removed, one can simply take the knob face out and turn it around. This ensures the core does not appear upside down and eliminates the necessity to order a right-handed or lefthanded lock. (Please refer to the image above.) |

Q: What rose styles are offered for the 6K? A: The 6K is available in 2 rose styles (C: 2-9/16” & D: 3-3/8). |

Q: What finishes are offered for the 6K? A: The 6K is available in 7 finishes: Standard (626), Satin (606, 612, 613), and Bright (605, 611, 625). |

Q: What cores must be used for the 6K? A: Unlike competitive grade 2 cylindrical knob sets which only accept key in knob (KIK) cylinders, the 6K accepts any SFIC (Small Format Interchangeable Core). |

Q: What door thickness range can the 6K accommodate? A: What door thickness range can the 6K accommodate? A: The 6K comes preset from the factory to t 1 ¾” thick doors but can be eld adjusted to t 1 3/8” – 1 7/8” thick doors. |

Q: What is the lead time for a 6K? A: The average lead time for a 6K is less than 2 weeks. |

Q: What warranty does the 6K have? A: The 6K has a 3 year warranty. |

Q: How hard is it to install the 6K? A: The 6K is very easy to install and can be done in a few minutes or less once the door is prepped. The 6K ts the common cylindrical (161) door prep. The installation requires two screws which are used for the latch only. Once the latch is installed, one must simply slide the chassis through the 2 1/8” diameter hole and snap the inside knob onto the inside spindle. |
